Oh my god! I can't believe this is happening! I mean, this is most wrestling fans' dream come true! Vince McMahon has done it again and this time he is pulling out all the stops, completely eliminating the competition, basically, in a matter of weeks. Through no direct action of Vince, ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) has crumbled and most of the talent, including Owner/Producer Paul Heyman (a.k.a Paul E. Dangerously), have been signed to the WWF (World Wrestling Federation). The purchase of WCW (World Championship Wrestling) now gives Vince another show and place to promote wrestlers that cannot get on television due to the tremendous depth on the WWF roster. The question still remains, just what current WCW'ers are going to show up on WWF TV, or on the new WCW TV on TNN. All details regarding talent are not yet known, but it is believed that most of the current WCW roster will have to be either released or bought out of their current contracts by the current WCW. Vince can basically pick and choose who he wants and where he wants to put them. He has a lot more power now, more than ever, and if he uses it wisely, it good be a great thing for wrestling fans. However, if he lets his ego get the best of him, which has been known to happen from time to time, it could be disasterous for the wrestling world outside of the WWF. If a wrestler falls out of favor with McMahon, he could be looking for a lot of lower paying Indy dates real soon! Of course there is always Japan as well.
It is has been stated in the past that the two companies will continue to be run seperately, however, cross-promotional storylines may begin as early as this Monday night on both Raw is War on TNN and Nitro on TNT. Just think of all of the possibilites. The Rock can either team or go against Booker T. I think either one would be interesting. Can you imagine a HHH/Scott Steiner alliance??? What about a Goldberg/HHH feud....remember those comments Goldberg had about The Game? Then you also have, Stone Cold/Goldberg, Nash can rejoin the Clic, maybe Scott Hall makes a reapperance??? You just never know!!!
One that that is certain, barring the deal goes through, is thatthe WWF now owns thousands of hours of video that they can reproduce for TV, Internet, Broadband, basically anything they want! We could see an all wrestling channel somewhere in the future. Imagine some classic footage that they now have though. They have footage of Stone Cold Steve Austin when he was just starting out, same for Mick Foley, and just about everyone on their roster now. This is just the beginning of it all! The next few weeks will be very interesting to see just what they are going to do, and we should find out what happens to all that available talent!! Keep checking back becuase I'll be keeping up on this very exciting situation!!
